Our home inspection services include inspecting components of the main systems in a building envelope. These systems are: The Roofing System Should protect the building and occupants for a number of years. Improper maintenance and weather fatigue may result in leaks and other undesirable conditions. The Structural System Is literally the skeleton of a home. Making sure all components are in tact and not stressed, cracked, or failing creates a safe and sound building. The Exterior System Should be a weather-tight skin, and should defend against insects and other unwanted intruders. Defects can compromise that protection and accelerate deterioration of the interior and structure. The Heating/Cooling System When designed correctly, should provide adequate comfort. Components generally rely on each other to operate efficiently. Flaws in the system can lead to repairs or equipment problems. The Plumbing System Supplies and removes water for cooking, drinking, and washing; also provides fuel for heating systems. Leaks and obstructions need to be detected to prevent expensive repairs. The Electrical System Is essential for convenience, and most of all, safety. Many problems occur when circuits are overloaded and wiring is faulty or outdated. These issues need to be checked to maintain a safe home. The Interior System (including insulation, ventilation, fireplaces, and chimneys) Should provide a comfortable and welcoming living space. Poor installation, lack of maintenance, and malfunctions from other building systems need to be detected and located before improper conditions cause major damage.
